Our mission
Tara Health Foundation advances health and economic justice by transferring all of our resources and assets to invest in and elevate solutions at the intersection of race and gender.
Our vision
Institutions and people will take actions so that systematically marginalized and minoritized people are able to assert sovereignty over their own bodies and futures, and lay full claim to quality healthcare, capital, and power. As a result, our society and the communities within it will be thriving with people of color at the helm.
To achieve this, systemically privileged institutions– beginning with the Tara Health Foundation– must let go of their historically unjust status, capital, and power. The vision of the Tara Health Foundation is that institutions and people must take actions to relinquish capital and power at the intersection of health, economic power, rights, safety, and education. This practice must be widely incorporated into public policy and all sectors so that racism and sexism in the US are eradicated.
Our values
Authenticity: We value people and the power that they hold when they show up as their full selves everywhere. We recognize our gaps and limitations and operate from that understanding.
Justice: We act to see racial and gender injustices remedied and their root causes addressed. We are committed to working towards systemic change such that race and gender no longer predict life outcomes in the United States.
Transparency: We exercise transparency as part of our practices, processes, and outcomes. It is one way that we practice our commitment to racial and gender justice.
Equity: We promote justice and fairness within the processes, procedures, and distribution of resources by institutions and systems. Tackling equity issues requires an understanding of the underlying or root causes of outcome disparities within our society.
