Visible, bold, together: Finding each other to build the world we want
By Tara Health Foundation Team
To our community,
In this moment of coordinated attacks on our movements, communities, families, and futures, we remain steadfast in our commitment to gender, economic, and racial justice. Not as abstract ideals, but as the foundation for a world where women, gender-expansive people, and BIPOC communities can assert sovereignty over their own bodies and futures and lay full claim to quality healthcare, capital, and power.
We will continue to direct all of our resources toward this vision as we spend out.
We see this world of shared abundance and collective thriving already emerging through the cracks in our current systems — nurtured by the work of the intersecting movements we support, from reproductive justice to economic justice, from birth justice to racial justice.
These movements carry generations of wisdom about what it takes to create real change: not reactive spurts of support, but patient, relational, human-centered work and substantial, long-term investment in Black and brown-led organizations, birth workers, abortion providers, and economic justice organizers, among others, who are actively building economies of care where resources flow to communities rather than from them.
Yet these very movements — built through decades of collective investment — are under coordinated attack.
We feel the weight of this moment alongside you all.
But we’re saying all this out loud to remind ourselves and our community that we don’t need to bear the weight alone. We know from our own journey that when we recognize and build on our interdependence — and the shifting of power and resources this requires — we can bring about a future no one of us could have dreamed of, and that all of us benefit from.
We asked our partners what they need most right now. Their answer: long-term unrestricted funding. Public advocacy, especially when it's risky. Funders who won't retreat into silence. We're committed to all of this, and we invite our peers to join us.
In this moment, being visible about our commitments isn’t just important — it’s how we find each other, stand together, and build the world we want from our collective power.
So today, we’re making a move toward bolder visibility to advance our shared vision:
We’ve expanded our identity to embody our shared vision and reflect our decade-long evolution, and launched a new website so that we can advocate more boldly, share our journey more openly, and create clearer pathways for others to join us in the collective work of transforming philanthropy into a force for gender, economic, and racial justice. Because we believe deeply that creating real change requires all of us, tending these futures together.
