Criterion Institute

Investment Type: Grant
Year: 2017
Amount: $100,000
Organization Type: Nonprofit

Criterion Institute is the leading think tank focused on using finance as a tool for social change. Given the gravity of gender-based violence – which affects one in three women worldwide – Criterion has recently made a commitment to focus one third of its resources on strategies for using finance to address this critical issue.

Why we invest:

We provided a grant to support Criterion’s development of a model portfolio of enterprises with a direct, intentional impact on gender-based violence. The project will create frameworks for measuring a company’s impact on gender-based violence; surface examples of investible enterprises that meet those criteria; and issue recommendations on how to build a more robust pipeline of companies addressing the prevention, treatment, and root causes of violence.
