Driven with and by community, infused with science, inspired by art, the Center for Birth Equity and Innovation collaborative will catalyze a new era of social medicine, participatory technology, and innovation for health equity. The Center, including The SOUL Lab, Streetwyze, National Birth Equity Collaborative, UCSF, SFSU and others, are partnering to collectively launch efforts to better research maternal deaths and other racial disparities with Black women, people of color, and birthing people at the center of the community-partnered research enterprise. The Center’s  goal is to create the first and largest national data repository with, for, and by Black Women and Birthing people as well as women and families of color around the social, structural and clinical determinants of health.

We provided a planning grant to support the development and launch of the Center for Birth Equity and Innovation and its critical partnerships.
