Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) is a collaborative research group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)’s Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. They conduct innovative, rigorous, multidisciplinary research on complex issues to advance evidence-based policy, practice, and public discourse to improve reproductive wellbeing. Their work is informed by an understanding of the role that structural inequities play in shaping health.
Why we invest:
Tara Health is providing funding for two projects. First, we are providing a two-year grant to the Research Consortium on Religious Healthcare Institutions, a partnership between ANSIRH and the University of Chicago. The Consortium addresses religious institutional constraints on reproductive health with the goal of improving access to comprehensive and patient-centered care. We are funding a multi-methods research project on how private US-based employers constrain or facilitate employees’ access to reproductive healthcare through employer-sponsored health insurance. This research will improve the lives of women and families through translation to change in corporate behavior.
Additionally, Tara Health provided a grant in 2018 to support an ANSIRH project to evaluate the feasibility, efficacy, and acceptability of demedicalized models of care for medication abortion. The project is designed to reduce barriers to care and support strategies to improve access to high-quality abortion care, with a focus on low-income people, adolescents, and communities of color.
